I’ll push for lower, fairer taxes that help grow our economy

For years, our elected-officials have promised to cut taxes, and help grow our economy. But Washington insiders like Rep. Pingree have utterly failed to reform our tax structure, and create system that affords hardworking Mainers the chance to get ahead. I know we must lower our tax rates, and institute a fair system that allows 1st District families to keep more of they hard earned money.

We need a simple tax system

The IRS tax code is nearly 75,000 pages long. It’s a complex web of legalese that very few people can even read or comprehend. While large businesses can hire teams of accountants and lawyers to decipher our tax code, small businesses are left to fend for themselves, and worry that they will be penalized by the IRS for any number of reasons. This is simply unacceptable. We need to drastically trim down our tax code, and guarantee that anyone can fill out their own taxes – without the help of someone with a PhD.

Our corporate tax system shouldn’t kill jobs and push businesses overseas

America’s corporate tax rate is the highest among industrialized countries. This not only encourages businesses to keep their assets offshore, but it incentives companies eliminating American jobs and creating jobs overseas. I’ll fight to create a fair corporate tax that promotes American jobs, allows our Maine businesses to thrive and compete nationally and internationally, and ensures we have a secure and prosperous future.
